NRA Pistol Student
So you are interested in owning or shooting a handgun and have no idea how to get started. I would recommend taking an introductory class with an instructor. We at Tactically Sharp, Inc. offer such courses as sanctioned by the NRA.
Our Chief Instructor is a NRA Certified Instructor with over 35 years of personal shooting experience, and we have bilingual (English/Spanish) instructors.
All our courses stress "Firearms Safety" and are taught in a stress free, non-competitive environment. Our main goal is to train you in safe and proper firearms handling, and we move forward at a pace that you can follow.

A very good course to start with if you have little or no experience shooting handguns is the non-shooting NRA Home Firearms Safety course. This course is good for gaining the introductory knowledge needed to see if shooting is for you. This is a course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA's three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports.

NRA First Steps Pistol course satisfies the State of Florida training requirements for a Florida Concealed Weapons / Firearms License. You get NRA First Steps Pistol packet including NRA Pistol Shooting Handbook, Certificate, Florida Law on Carry Concealed, all state forms, and you will develop the Knowledge for SAFE GUN HANDLING based on one type of handgun (semi-automatic pistol or revolver) per student. Training includes classroom and a live fire exercise. This course is typically a half day class. Fee: $85.00, deposit $40.00

NRA Basic Pistol (Florida CWL)
Class Available Monthly - 8 hour
NRA Basic Pistol course satisfies the State of Florida training requirements for a Florida Concealed Weapons / Firearms License. The course includes: Operations and Functions of Revolvers and Semi-Automatic Handguns, Safe Handling Practices & Shooting Fundamentals, NRA Basic Pistol Packet and Certification. We will break for lunch (cost not included). Training includes classroom and a live fire exercise. This is a detailed class that is covered in a full long day. Fee: $150.00, deposit $50.00

Personal Protection In The Home...
For this class you need ear & eye protection, firearm, magazine or speed-loader, and 100 rounds of ammo.
Short Description :
Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense.
More Details:
This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and course completion certificate.
The NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course participants must be law abiding, adults (at least 21 years old), and experienced shooters (shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm) to maximize what can be learned from this course. Proof of shooting experience can be one of the following: NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, Florida Concealed Weapons Licnses, or passing the Pre-Course Assessment. Student must provide their own handgun for this course.
Monthly - 8 to 10 hours
Fee: $250, deposit: $100

Simply because Florida lets people carry concealed weapons doesn't mean licensees can use these weapons at will. State law only allows using guns and other allowed weapons when trying to protect oneself or someone else from death or serious bodily harm or to prevent a forcible felony, like rape or kidnapping. Gun owners may not use or display them to win an argument, to make threats or in response to an idle verbal threat. Using a weapon during a crime or against a law enforcement officer is forbidden and punishable by law.
